scantily rad is the first full-length album from moonslang
Scantily Rad is a dance with the unknown. Born from that restlessness of early adulthood, when the world never truly stops spinning, this debut album from Moonslang (Louisvilleā€™s Ryan Simpson) is designed as an existential extravaganza, a choice you make to mold your worldview into what you want it to be. Through lyrics that walk the line between vivacious and vulnerable, Scantily Rad explores familiar concepts of doubt, pride, indifference, insecurity, and magnificence, only without separating them from each other as entities. Just as white light is merely a blend of different colors, each as bold as the next, the feelings we feel are often the same, all mixed together in a confusing and overwhelming mess. Scantily Rad is an attempt at observing this overlap, all the while expressing an attitude that is equal parts reflective and eccentric. With a unique style of funky and expressive vocals, over an eclectic set of DIY pop sounds with wide-ranging influences, Moonslang is grooving through uncertainty, and doing so in full color.
